I love the Hunger Games Trilogy, having stumbled upon it by accident, and finding all three books to be engaging, exciting, hard to put down, and ones I've already reread and told others to read. I cannot say enough positive things about this book. In fact, I am a teacher and I am working on unit plans to teach this book to my students. This is why I love the Hunger Games.

I love The Hunger Games because it is such a page-turner. I fell in love with the action during the first few chapters of book one. I think the books also have great depth and meaning to them. It is so much different than other books I've read which makes it so wonderful.

I love the Hunger Games because I absolutely adore Katniss and because I just couldn't put the books down! I hadn't read any YA books since Twilight because of how much I disliked Bella and the whole series/hype... but a friend insisted I HAD to read The Hunger Games, and I'm so glad I did! Suzanne Collins reminded me that YA books can be amazing inspired me to pick up other YA books that I've loved. Katniss is one of my absolute favorite literary heroines, and I just love that she's such a strong female character.

I love The Hunger Games for more reasons than can be mentioned here! The characters, especially Katniss, are so rich. Katniss has flaws, and yet she is one of the most powerful, inspirational characters I have read. The story is amazing in its ability to capture your interest while just having that amazing quality of writing and theme that I love in a book. It's a book that MATTERS, its a book that teaches you something about life. It isn't one of those instant gratification books that are popular in YA literature. It is amazingly powerful, it has the ability to completely make you question your long held views and really make you think about things you would otherwise have ignored. Collins doesn't shy away from making it as hard to read as wars are to watch. It is such a powerfully touching book.

Thanks for hosting this contest! There are so many reasons why The Hunger Games series is one of my favorites. It's targeted at an extremely wide audience. While the characters are teens, the story is one that could be compared to those of Brave New World and 1984. The story gets pretty gruesome at times, and has many touching moments. Also, the characters are very realistic and strong. Most YA novels have characters who do not sound anything at all like a real teenager would. Also, the plot is fresh, and not like those other, overused ones. Overall, the series is very heart-wrenching and believable. Thanks again, so much!

I love the Hunger Games for a lot of reasons... It's a good read for sure, and I've also loved books about dystopian worlds. But this series just has a great blend of science fiction, romance, adventure, and violence that you can't find anywhere else. It's so easy to identify with the characters, who are incredibly interesting and realistic. Not to mention, the series matures and changes from a televised, controlled game of survival into all out war. It's simply an excellent series.

I like how unflingly flawed the charters are. Makes them dynamic rather than being one-dementional like so much of modern literature.

The Hunger Games is my most recent series obsession. I found it a few Christmases ago and bought one for myself and one for my YA cousin. We're both hooked.

It took me a while to finally pick up The Hunger Games trilogy even though everyone was telling me to read it....When i finally read it all I could do was kick myself for taking so long. The trilogy was amazing and one that I couldn't put down. I loved how unique it was and how it made you really think about serious issues.

I love the Hunger Games because unlike sooo many other books out there, the idea is truly original. The book has a super exciting plot, that has twists and surprises around every corner and sucks you in from the moment you pick it up. It's hard not to fall in love with the amazing characters that remind us all a bit of ourselves but also embody what we all want to be like, brave, loving and willing to risk it all for what's right. The series isn't happy all the time but it's extremely realistic. The books have something fo everyone and will make just about anyone fall in love with it and it has certainly made me.

Hunger Games is maybe the only book I've read written in 1st person, and that, with the adrenaline push of the narrative, made me feel more like I was in the text itself than any book I've ever read in recent history. Astounding.

I absolutely LOOVE the Hunger Games because it is filled with so much adventure and action and heartbreak. I love the surprises that keep coming even when you think the dilemma has been taken care of. It never stops and keeps you at the edge of your seat! I read this book for four days straight, I just couldn't put it down. It's like a drug! (In a good way)

I love how it has that perfect level of light and dark. It will have me laughing in one scene and sobbing in another. And I can reread it and not get bored.

I love how The Hunger Games was almost so dark and almost made fun of our currently materialistic society with our morbid curiosity.

Why I love The Hunger Games? Simply put because it's awesome! I was browsing the book section at a store and just so happened to find it. I'm extremely happy to have read it! I swear, I didn't put down The Hunger Games and Catching Fire for days! And when Mockingjay came out! Let me tell you, I was one of the first people in line! And on top of that, I'm glad that for once the heroine wasn't a shallow, whiny girl. Katniss...is amazing and I wish I could be like her! (But don't we all?)

Thanks for the contest!
I loved you started in Spanish: en fuego
I love the Hunger Games simply because: who doesn't love them? Those who don't know history!
The Katniss character. The boys, Gale and Peeta. the future structure, the idea is cruelly exciting.
I hope to read The Girl Who Was On Fire
I want to know all what these authors have to tell us about the trilogy!

Greetings ;)

Oh man, I don't even know if I can put into words the reason I like these books. I love the voice of Katniss and the characters and the plot and everything just sucked me right in and i devoured the entire trilogy in less than a week. They were fabulous, i just couldn't get enough of them. It was so well thought out and paced nicely.

The reason I love the Hunger Games is because of the characters. I can connect with all of them in some way, whether it is choosing between your two best friends or doing whatever it takes to survive. Also I love the excitement of the danger in the books. Action is my thing, and when I read the first book, I fell in love. Then when the second book came out and there was another game, I fell in love again, which I didn't think was possible. These books made me cry, laugh, and sometimes want to throw the book against a wall, but I loved every part of them. GO KATNISS!

I picked up The Hunger Games one day while I was on my lunch at work because I had left the book I was currently reading at home. I was late going back to work that day because it was just so good I couldn't put it down. I had to buy Catching Fire the next day because I had razzed through the first one.
The three books took me about four days to read. I literally couldn't put them down at times. They were original and amazing.
I've loaned them out to at least five other people who have all thought the same thing.

I love The Hunger Games because it's a completely original take on the possibility of a dystopian world controlled by a totalitarian goverment. The events, while seemingly far-fetched today, may become entirely all-too-possible in the distant future. I also love the beautiful prose, realistic voice, and realistic characters.

:D I love the Hunger Games Triology because they are a genuine masterpiece!!! The triology hooks you instantly and you fall in love with the characters and the whole idea behind them keeps you thinking about the books for days! They keep you wondering and pondering about things like corruption, true love and sacrifice and friendship. There is alot you walk away with just by reading the books. I can't say enough good things about the books. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM.

The Hunger Games was such an amazing series because it was so well written about the possible future of our country and what it might lead to be. Utopian books are sometimes a little bit "out there" and crazy and unbelievable but the Hunger Games was so well written and believable that it was nice to sit back and read it. The characters were so inspiring and brave even in such horrible conditions as having to fight to the death and everyone in the nation including the people you love might have to watch you die. It was just so intense and I loved this series.

I loved the Hunger games because of the way it made its readers look at reality T.V. and a one-world Government. Nothing good can come out of either.

I loved the Hunger Games for a lot of reasons. I mostly loved it because of the characters though, they were so dynamic and realistic, it was like you were actually interacting with them, and I loved Katniss, she is such a strong and amazing character. My one friend thought she was brutal, but all I saw in her was strength, she did what she had to do to survive, and I always respected her for that. I also loved Peeta, he's the perfect partner for Katniss, he's constant and he calms the fire in her. ;)

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of The Girl Who Was on Fire, and I look forward to reading your essay...because even if I don't win, I plan on getting my hands on a copy of this book. :)

I love the Hunger Games because of all the twists and turns in the series. Just when you think you'll have a straightforward story, Suzanne Collisn leaves you with your jaw hanging. And Katniss is the most badass female protagonist I've seen in a VERY long time!

Shadowniss said...

The first time I've read the first book, I didn't know what to expect. I could count you the ways why I love the series and I could go on forever. It's a fact that in order for a book to be very popular and loved, it must be, first of all, compelling enough to draw the readers to turn the next page.

With The Hunger Games, it's so gripping, raw and compelling is too weak a word to describe my experience of reading it. I've grown so attached with and defensive for the characters, I imagine myself as Katniss singing Rue's Lullaby and being so broken on Mockingjay, I breathed the District 12 air, I hunted with Gale, I incited the rebellion, I fell in love with Peeta and so many other things only these books are capable of giving me.

Of all the books I've read, this is the most addicting and truly incomparable. I'm very much indebted to Suzanne Collins for making it all happen.

I love the Hunger Games because there are such mature and deep messages hidden beneath the storyline of an awesome adventure. Suzanne Collins is able to get her message across without pounding the reader over the head with it.

I love the Hunger Games series not only because it was written AMAZINGLY by Collins but also because we finally have a contemporary female character I actually like. Not since Elizabeth Bennett, I would venture to say has there been such a strong willed yet emotionally driven and commendable woman! Collins has sold me on all future novels of hers if the women are anything like Katniss!

I like Hunger Games because the writing is just so beautiful and masterfully paced. I also like Katniss' characters. She is not like Bella (who I hates) and very strong. She can fight. I love kick-ass characters. I also love that romance is not the focus of the books.

The Hunger Games has so many important messages, but the one that I connected with the most was that we all have choices that we have to make, no matter how hard it seems and to always be looking ahead instead, of dwelling on the past. Everything that's happening in the Middle East, Japan, everywhere really, kind of scares actually. Maybe our future will be like Panem. But it probably won't because people, in their hearts, have love and kindness. I love The Hunger Games because it makes me think so much harder and deeper than any other book has and made me look at life a little more fearlessly, but also more cautiously. I love the romance and love that romance ISN'T the main topic. I can't wait until the movie comes out, but nothing beats the books!

I really enjoy checking out dystopia themed books but I was initially put off by the YA classification. I got over after a few others my age encouraged me to "just go ahead and read it, already." I did and was caught up in the world/arena building.

I love the Hunger Games because it is something my friends and I cherish, and something we can all relate to. We, as a group, have had four or five hour long discussions about the series, and it always sparks a bunch of awesome conversation. This series has caused my friends and I to become much, much closer and better friends.

I love the Hunger Games because it is so addictive, has such a compelling story, and made me cry throughout the whole series. I felt really connected to the characters, and I must say that this is probably the best trilogy that I have ever read - it has changed my life in so many ways and has made me appreciate what we do have in our world. Suzanne Collins has done such a remarkable job playing on our emotions, pulling on our heartstrings, and teasing out our desires for more character action in the romance department! Plus, I'm a sucker for dystopians and love triangles...*cough* Katniss x Peeta *cough*...
